Lisa rang Jill Duncan today to hire the Balingup Recreation Centre (managed by BADSA for the Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup) for a quilt-making effort to help people in Japan after the disasters there. She was quoted $8/hr +gst. The local craft group get the hall for about 4hrs for about $20 ie. about $4/hr + gst. Lisa queried why she should be paying double what the craft group pays. Apparently they get the hall for a cheaper rate because they use it every week.
Hmm! Come-on, do only old people get things for cheap in Balingup? What about people trying to do the right thing for people in a desperate situation ?
This is just typical of the type of attitude we come to expect from our UNSUSTAINABLE local government.

Solar Sourdough
Lisa's sourdough was really good - cooked it in the solar oven. Unfortunately you eat it quicker than it takes to cook. Not really, it lasts quite well and its denser and more filling. You feel like a hobbit on a journey eating it. Best bread you will ever taste.

P-Day
That is: P-day for Possums to leave the building. We finally finished adding the last of the chicken wire mesh under the eaves of the house. Now, when the possums go out tonight, we will close the last hole off and hopefully get a better nights sleep. Perhaps the possums can dance and hiss in the trees like they're supposed to naturally. Cute as they are (we've heard possums snoring in the wall before) they've got to go!

Painting with home-made paint
Lisa and helper Ifan painted some of the front porch with home made paint. Doesn't it look beautiful?
Finished the floor in the workshop
Just finished laying the brick floor in the workshop. Should make it a bit easier to move around in there and not so much red dust getting on everything. After 14 years I should finally be able to use the shed for its intended purpose.
